Sung Min Bae Bio / Research Activity
Min Bae is a graduate of Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Concordia University (MFA). Since 1990, Min Bae has devoted most of his time to Sculpture, Photography and Filmmaking (live-action as well as stop motion animation).
A collaborator on several award-winning independent films, his own films have been presented in festivals worldwide, including Situation, Off Sync and Where are we. His most recently completed film was Made in China, filmed last summer (2006).
Min Bae incorporates his research and filmmaking practices into classroom pedagogy emphasizing imagination and creativity over large, production intensive projects. He is a hands-on filmmaker interested in, and knowledgeable of, new technologies but very much committed to artistic practices.
He is currently producing and directing a short 35mm animation film called Isolation.
He also has in development a feature-length 35mm documentary-drama, North/Nord, for which he has written the script and that he will be director and cinematographer in Northern Canada (2007).
